With the demise of the popular Blue Olive restaurant many people thought that another one of Pattaya’s best eateries was gone forever. Well Blue Olive has gone but a new restaurant has taken its place.
Located just off Thepprasit Soi 8 in exactly same location as Blue Olive is the new kid on the block Amber. The premises have been revamped with the addition of a cosy bar area where patrons can enjoy an aperitif before dining.
There are still a couple of tables outside for those that prefer al fresco dining or enjoy a cigarette between courses. On arrival the diner is presented with complimentary homemade warm bread, a cheese dip and olives.
Keeping with a European theme the menu offers a completely new range of dishes to its predecessor. The manager was keen to point out that Amber has not finalised on its complete menu as yet, and for now there are a range of courses on seperate menu sheets.
During the day there is a delicious range of very well stuffed sandwiches and snacks, delicious fare that will not break the bank, these include: Salami Milano, Parma Ham, Mortadella, Gorgonzola and Brie.
The starters are original and imaginative that combine the best ingredients with perfect seasoning, such as carrot & orange veloute, Norwegian salmon wrapped in seaweed, and smoked duck breast.
All beef dishes use high grade Australian beef, and the steaks are cooked to perfection. If you are a fish lover then the Halibut papillote is simply delicious, firm white fish with crispy vegetables and a delicate white source.
The oxtail is marinated for two days and is a culinary masterpiece, with a deep beef flavour and a very distinctive taste. All entrees have the option to be served with a variety of potatoes or accompanied by a tasty spinach lasagne.
Amber offers a very high quality wine menu, and in fact to celebrate this there will be monthly wine tasting events. There are some great vintages available for under 1,000 baht a bottle, and the house red and white are very reasonable indeed.
Making a reservation is simple, and Amber will let you have the table for the rest of your evening even after finishing your dining. When you eat at Amber it is like going around to eat at a friends house, the ambience is friendly and the service friendly, and you can stay as long as you like.
Amber is part of the Aroi group, and the successful recipe that made Aroi so popular and famous is being practised at Amber.
