Laong’s Bistro & Boutique
Something quite unique and very different, a Bistro with a Boutique? Fairly new to the Pattaya dining scene, Laong’s is down on Jomtien Second Road is is really easy to find.
The restaurant has a glass frontage and high ceilings with smart off white walls. On one side is the ladies boutique, while to the other side of the restaurant is a comfortable seating area with Chesterfield style sofas and chairs.
Laong’s opens for breakfast and offers reasonably priced full English breakfasts as well as a variety of other early morning treats including Eggs Benedict, Waffles, Pancakes or delicate Laong’s Salmon breakfast.
Lunchtime you can graze on delicious tapas with friends, or eat a hearty homemade burger. Perhaps you are a fan of Pasta? And if you are you are, you in for a treat, as the restaurant excels in all manner of Italian Spaghetti’, Penne and Linguine.
A word of warning for those that are only slightly peckish, the portions at Laong’s are definitely on the large side, and should you be there for an evening meal then choose your selection carefully.
Starters include mouthwatering items such as, Hokkaido Scallops, Drunken Mussels, Smoked Salmon Rose Garden or some fine Pasti di Pasta.
The main meal menu throws up some interesting surprises for what is supposedly just a Bistro. Grilled Trout, Black Angus Rib-Eye, Hokkaido Truffle Bake, Lamb Cutlet Quartet and Pork Saltimbocca all grace the menu along with some lighter bites and side dishes.
The Thai selection, billed as Flavours of Siam, is authentically cooked and expansive. However, it is presented as haute cuisine, and some of the dishes are far from the normal Thai fare offered in Pattaya, which makes a refreshing change.
Spicy Curry with Snapper, Roasted Chili with Shrimps and Fresh Vegetables, Spicy Minced Seafood. As well as the more exotic selections all the old favourites also appear, Spicy Salad with Lemongrass & Prawns, Deep Fried Marinated Beef with Fish Sauce, Green Curry with Chicken, Fresh Shrimp with Spicy Seafood Sauce.
Laong’s Bistro & Boutique offer a fully stocked licensed bar, and wine is available by the bottle or glass. As with the food menu, prices are extremely reasonable and without doubt value for money. Laong’s are passionate about what they do, they believe that dining at Laong’s should be nothing short of fabulous.
This certainly is reflected in the standard of service and of the food, and be it a simple cup of freshly brewed coffee or a three course meal that you are enjoying, the standards never drop.
The small boutique offers a selection of chic ladies wear and swimwear which is quite unique to Pattaya.
It is understandable that Laong’s is classed as a bistro as the ambiance is friendly and relaxed. However, the food, service and drink do not reflect this tag and far exceed a bistro classification. So whether you want breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, dinner or great Thai options Laong’s is open all day waiting for your patronage.
