The Pig & Whistle - Pattaya Dining Guide

The Pig & Whistle

Some expat pubs are little more than beer bars with a TV, serving below average fare, greasy breakfasts and stodgy pies. It should be noted that The Pig & Whistle on Thappraya Road in Jomtien is certainly not one of these establishments although it bills itself as a Traditional British Pub.

It boasts all the prerequisite necessities of any good sports pub; numerous large screens, a choice of fine draft and bottled beers, a fully stocked bar and there are even guests rooms above.

What differentiates the Pig & Whistle from many of its competitors however, is its menu. It is extensive and the food served up is of really good quality. Service is quick and friendly and subsequently The Pig is a very popular venue for locals and tourists alike.

The Decor

The Pig & Whistle is well furnished, although fairly small the venue makes the most of the space and fully upholstered comfortable booths are available to patrons. There are also an ample supply of barstools both at the bar and also dotted about to please the most ardent of barflys.

The Pig & Whistle boasts numerous large TV screens, which attracts many sports fans to come in and see their favourite teams play live.

The atmosphere in the Pig is like a local pub, friendly and cheerful. A lot of its patrons are regulars and there is a genial banter that permeates around the room mostly concerned around football.

The Menu

The menu at the Pig & Whistle contains delicious western food and a full Thai range of dishes. The prices are more than competitive and the chef knows how to cook western food perfectly like back at home.

The all day breakfasts are a popular choice, as are the daily specials and the Sunday roast dinners. Other favourites include gammon steak complete with pineapple, egg, peas and chips. Fresh fish and chips with tartar sauce basking in crispy homemade batter can also be served in bread crumbs is another favourite.

For traditionalists liver & chips, juicy beefsteaks, beef stews are all served piping hot to your table. Traditional English puddings are also accompanied with homemade custards or fresh cream but the mains are so substantial few people can actually fit them in.

Accommodation at the Pig & Whistle is very affordable and definitely value for money. The well appointed rooms are above the restaurant and right in the heart of the Jomtien Complex.

Although the rooms at the front do suffer with a little traffic noise that must be offset with the convenient location and the price.

Everything about the Pig & Whistle is about value for money. Food portions are large, drinks have Happy Hours and accommodation comfortable but affordable.
